Stop SmokingWorkforce Magazine recently recognized MGM-Mirage for their efforts to help employees curb their smoking habits.  This is big news for an industry that is surrounded by smokers.  With 67,000 employees, an effort like this is a massive undertaking but will more than likely yield huge ROI (Return on Investment) by way of insurance premiums and claims.  Kudos to MGM-Mirage - for stepping up and taking a leadership role.

Nevada Employment Base May 2008

According to a recent study by the Restrepo Group, establishment-based employment was down 4,700 jobs in Las Vegas over the year and down to post 9-11 numbers. 

With the recent announcement of the Echelon Resorts project being put on hold, expect employment to continue trending downward.
