Resumes For Sale

My post on a “Resume Database for Sale” last week generated some response (and many questions) from employers on how this may affect them.  Well  … here you go.

Think about it…. You are a well respected employer with great job openings.  You want to reach the largest ‘qualified’ applicant pool possible, so you post your highly respected jobs on what you feel are respectable job boards.  Great applicants apply to your great jobs.  But each applicant has to create a resume to be stored in the resume database of the job boards you posted your ad on.

Now – one of the job boards decides that they want to sell their resume database to the highest bidder.  Inside of this resume database are all of your great applicant (and now potentially -  great employee) resumes.  So, who will be the new owner this information (resume database)?

Anyway you look at it – you are now involved in the problem.  Whether it is the headhunter trying to poach your talent, or the identity thief who will cause your employee to spend countless hours during the workday trying to mitigate future damages - your employee’s productivity will be affected.
