Mystery Shopper - Mystery Applicants

I was introduced to probably the most unique service today……the Mystery Shopper. It is unique, because they are shopping our human resource departments as applicants.
Scared? You should not be. But most are. Why? Many of us simply have no clue as to the applicant/jobseeker experience. How is a jobseeker greeted? How long does it take to get an interview scheduled? If they do not make the final cut…how is that message conveyed? Will it resonate with them? Attract them back or scare them off?
This ‘generic’ practice has long been accepted in the retail and food service industries, where customer service is continuously being evaluated. It is now being introduced to top level executives as a way to measure the HR department. With a tightening labor market, the customer service an applicant receives from your human resource department may be the selling factor of finding the most qualified candidates.
This is just one of the services Bernard Hodes is offering to add value to their overall portfolio. With the ever changing landscape in recruitment and recruitment advertising, it is becoming more and more difficult for a Human Resource department to manage the entire recruitment process. Many are beginning to consider outsourcing.
Is your HR department being shopped?
