In a previous post I shared the fact that employers are finding greater success with Job Boards than newspapers.

Jobseekers confirmed this trend in a recent survey conducted by WEDDLE’sWEDDLE’s is the leading resource about information on recruiting, the Internet and HR Management.

Over 1,200 jobseekers participated in the study.  They were asked how they think they will be successful in their job search campaign.  You will be shocked at the findings:

  • 57.6% Responding to an ad posted on an Internet job board
  • 16.8% Networking at business and social events
  • 7.2% Responding to an ad posted on an employer’s Web-site
  • 7.6% Sending a resume to an employer by mail
  • 3.9% Receiving a call from a headhunter
  • 1.9% Receiving a call from a staffing firm
  • 1.9% Attending a career fair
  • 1.6% Responding to a newspaper ad
  • 0.7% Joining a social networking site
  • Just like the employer-based survey….Job Boards are on top.  Newspapers on the bottom.

The real question is - “How can newspapers justify increasing their rates each and every year, while their circulation continues to decline and jobseekers are flat out not using newspaper or have lost confidence in its’ ability to land them their next job?”
